Maybe you know it as Obamacare or the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). But regardless of what it's labeled, changes are occurring for everyone. Here are a few things you need to know:

 

**Starting January 1, 2014, all Americans are required to have health insurance that is PPACA compliant, otherwise they're subjected to a penalty.

 

**Businesses with 50+ full time equivalent employees must offer health insurance or pay a fine starting January 1, 2015.

 

**Insurance companies can no longer increase premiums or decline someone with pre-existing medical conditions.

 

**You can only enroll during Open Enrollment. For 2014 that will be October 1, 2103 - March 31, 2014. But years following it will be October 15 - December 7.
